The framework went up, and the next day our crew noticed people had written all over the wood. It was actually a wonderful sight to see because the woodwork was covered with encouraging messages and Scripture references.
Our clients hosted their family and friends at the construction site of their new home and invited them to mark up its framework. In a world where encouragement is often left to a quick Facebook post or emoji, it was a nice change to see people thoughtfully share their hopes for the family as they prepare to transition to a new home.
We loved this idea and wanted to share it with you. It doesn’t need to be an elaborate event. Just invite your family and friends and let them know you want them to be prepared to share their best wishes, a prayer, or a Scripture on the woodwork. Provide some light snacks and drinks. Everyone will want to walk through the house and imagine what it will look like when it’s complete. After a tour and some time to mingle, thank them for coming, pass out the Sharpie markers, and ask them to get to work.
